Frequently asked questions

Answers about photo dimensions, file size, formats, metadata and checking a final export.

What is the difference between resizing and compression?

Resizing changes width and height in pixels. Compression changes how image information is stored. You can combine them, but they solve different problems. Read size and quality before choosing an export.

Why does my image still exceed a target size?

A quality setting does not guarantee a byte count. Content, dimensions and format all matter. If dimensions must remain fixed, a target can be impossible without unacceptable damage. Check the actual output size and the destination’s instructions.

Can I change HEIC to JPEG by renaming it?

No. Renaming an extension does not convert the image data. Create a real converted copy, open it and check orientation and colour. Keep the source, especially if it contains features the delivery format cannot preserve. See the format guide.

Which format should I send?

Use a format the recipient accepts. JPEG is practical for many ordinary photographs. Transparency and web delivery can need a different choice. A smaller file is not useful if the destination cannot open it.

Does a smaller file always mean a worse picture?

Not necessarily at the intended viewing size. Unneeded pixels can be removed without harming a small display. Excessive reduction can still damage faces, text and texture. Compare the exported copy with the source at the same displayed size.

Does removing GPS make a photo anonymous?

No. The visible picture can reveal an address, face, badge or distinctive location. Review visible details and embedded information separately. A scan that cannot read a file does not prove metadata is absent. See metadata and GPS.

Will every form accept a resized portrait?

No. Check file type, dimensions, size and the procedure’s substantive requirements. An official identity-photo process is different from an ordinary attachment. A successful upload is not a certification of identity-photo compliance.

What should I do before sending a result?

Open the downloaded file, check important details and verify it in the destination. Confirm the final crop, orientation and file size. Attach the prepared copy rather than the original next to it, and keep your original for future edits.

How do I report a problem?

Write to hello@tinyphoto.app with the steps, file format and error message. Do not send a sensitive source photo or credentials. A non-sensitive sample may help only if you choose to provide it.
